A new exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam featuring the extraordinary works of Yayoi Kusama, the legendary artist, has been unveiled. This exhibition serves as a grand celebration and a fitting tribute to her life and works.

A new exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam proudly showcases the works of the legendary artist, Yayoi Kusama. This exhibition, recently opened following Kusama's passing at the age of ۹۷, is considered a grand celebration and a fitting tribute to her life and works.

Stunning and Surprising Works

This exhibition features a collection of works including ceramics, paintings, and prints by Kusama. Nearly ۵۰ pieces from this collection are being displayed to the public for the first time. These works have been gathered from several museums in Japan, particularly highlighting pieces from her hometown, Matsumoto. According to the exhibition curator, this event will bring many surprises not only for those familiar with Kusama's works but also for those meeting this artist for the first time.

Infinity Room: The Heart of the Exhibition

One of the most captivating parts of this exhibition is the “Infinity Room,” whose walls are covered with yellow dots and designed with mirrors that transport the viewer into a world of endless dots. Throughout her ۷۰ years of artistic activity, Kusama has created colorful works using her personal experiences and struggles with mental illness, with circular dots symbolizing her view of the world.

The exhibition curator notes the profound impact of art on Kusama's life, stating, “For her, creating art and painting what was in her mind was a way to cope with challenges. Art can be like a healing force, and this has always been present in her life.”

After studying in Japan, Kusama emigrated to the United States in the late ۱۹۵۰s and became one of the prominent figures in the New York avant-garde scene. She returned to Japan in the ۱۹۷۰s and lived and worked under treatment at a psychiatric hospital in Tokyo until her death.

The news of the artist's passing was heard during the installation of the exhibition. The exhibition curator expressed sorrow over this news, emphasizing that this exhibition is a grand celebration of Kusama's works and a tribute to an amazing life. He also acknowledged that this exhibition serves as a “final point” in Kusama's artistic career.
